Dare to Accept Correction, Part 2

Question: Did David know that he had gone astray? Yes

“When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

“For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.” Psalm 32:3-4

“Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.” Proverbs 13:15

Question: So, why didn’t David repent?

  • As long as things are going well, it’s because we enjoy the sin and we hope and believe we’ll get away with it.
  • When things start going wrong, it’s our pride – nobody likes to admit they were wrong.
  • By the time we come to 2 Samuel 12 and Nathan’s confrontation of David, David had spent quite a bit of time – possibly several months – in a “state of denial.”
