Love, Sacrifice, Service

bigstock_Old_Glory_28147“All gave some; some gave all”

If you combine all the United States causalities – including the wounded – from all of the military conflicts our country has been involved in – from the Revolutionary War until 2015 – you would find that we have had almost 3,000,000 men and women who have sacrificed for the cause of the great country that we call home – the United States of America.

However, I wonder how many of us truly understand what “sacrifice” is. For many, Memorial Day is simply a three day weekend. Yes, some of us will post “Memorial Day Tributes” on our Facebook pages and might even say “Thank you” to the occasional veteran that we might cross paths with. Yet, even still, do we understand what “sacrifice” is?

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
