Quit You Like Men…Be Strong

On this day, we celebrate Father’s Day. However, according to the American Family Association, “In the U.S., 43% of children live without their father; 90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes; 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes; 71% of pregnant teens are without a father, 71% of high school drop-outs come from fatherless homes, and 70% of juveniles in state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes.” While we typically think of a “fatherless home” as being a home where – physically – there is no father present, we must understand that there are plenty of homes – even Christian homes – where the father is physically there but spiritually the home is fatherless.

In 1 Corinthians 16:13, we have the phrase, “…quit you like men.” That phrase means to act manly or, in other words, BE A MAN! And, more to the point, be a Godly man! Men, only as you and I, strive to be Godly men will our homes have the fathers that our children need and the husbands that our wives need!

If we are going to be Godly men, there are some things that we are going to have to remember.
