The disciples have just returned from exhilarating preaching trip. They were excited yet tired. They needed some time apart. However, they once again, at the direction of Jesus, find themselves in a ministry opportunity where they experience Christ feeding of the 5,000! Now, they’re really tired! At that point Christ sends the disciples on ahead straight into the path of a storm. It’s at this point where we find ourselves at Matthew 14:28-29:
“And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
“And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.”
As we begin to look at Peter’s experience of walking on water, I want to answer the question…
What does it mean to “walk on water?”
