Step Out of the Boat, Part 5

  • Parents, have you ever looked at one of your children and asked, “Why did you just do that?!” Only to receive the response, “I don’t know?”
  • Teachers, have you ever looked at one of your students and asked, “Why did you just do that?!” Only to receive the response, “I don’t know?”
  • Church family, has your employer ever asked you, “Why did you just do that?!” Only to look back at them, shrug your shoulders, and say, “I don’t know?”

Peter, in these verses did that which, in his own power and ability he could not and would not have done! Yet, the fact of that matter is he did do it – he did walk on water – and the question now is, “Why?” I believe that the answer to that question can be found in Matthew 24:28:

“And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”
