Don’t Get Into A War of Words

Part of Timothy’s ministry was spent as Pastor of the church in Ephesus, which was one of the more prominent churches that Paul had started. In fact, the Bible records for us that Paul spent 3 years in Ephesus teaching them the truths of God. When given one last opportunity to warn the leaders of the church in Ephesus, God records that warning for all to head. (Acts 20:29-30)

  • Grievous wolves would come. Why? To destroy the church.
  • Some, from within, would seek to divide and thus to destroy the church.

Satan hates the local church – any local church. Satan hates South Charlotte Baptist Church. Satan does not want the work of South Charlotte Baptist Church to continue! If Satan cannot destroy this church from without then he will try to destroy it from within. Often, the greatest attacks that a local church endures come, not from without, but from within.

“And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:” Matthew 12:25

Thus, in this passage from 2 Timothy, Paul gives Timothy a warning…Don’t get into a war of words!
