Here in Genesis chapter 45 we find Joseph’s brothers in a situation where, if they stayed in Canaan they faced certain death because of the famine. Yet, through the providence of God, Joseph has revealed himself to them and, instead of being bitter at their treatment of him, he “overcomes evil with good” (Romans 12:21) and states his intentions of taking care of them during the remaining five years of the famine.
